Christian Education

Church School

Our Church School program runs simultaneously with the 10:15 a.m. worship service. Grade level classes are offered for children between our 3 years old and 8th grade. Age-appropriate, Biblically-based lessons are taught utilizing a variety of different media and formats.

On the first Sunday of the month, Church School children through 6th grade join for Junior Worship in the Parish House which includes of Holy Communion. On the third Sunday of the month all Church School students meet for a special time of worship and praise music. All other Sundays, students begin the morning in worship with their parents and are dismissed for class following the Children’s Message.

From June through the end of August, 3 year olds through 5th grade participate in a special multi-age summer Church School class.

Nursery Care

Nursery care is available during the 10:15 a.m. worship service for children 3 years and younger.

Vacation Bible School

Held each summer, this is an exciting week of Bible-based stories and activities, music, and arts and crafts. Children ages 4 through 6th grade are invited to register. This year’s Vacation Bible School is scheduled to be held August 3 - August 7, 2009.

Confirmation is the process by which youth consider confirming their baptismal vows and joining the membership of the church. In preparation for this decision, the youth participate in a year-long class taught by the Senior Pastor and Director of Christian Education and Youth. Youth are first invited to participate to begin the confirmation process in the 9th grade, although some wait until later in the high school years.

Youth Ministry

Our church currently sponsors three youth groups:

God’s Adventurers is for 4th and 5th grade and meets monthly for fun and fellowship during the school year.

Scrooby is for 6th through 8th grade and generally meets twice a month during the school year.

Pilgrim Fellowship is our High School youth group and regularly meets weekly during the school year.

A significant number of youth from our church regularly participate in week-long summer camp experiences at Silver Lake Conference Center each summer. These conferences are available to students entering the 4th grade and up. Our church aids those families actively involved in our fellowship with scholarship assistance. Many of our church staff, lay leaders, and older youth offer leadership to these conferences (as counselors, deans or summer staff) each summer.

Adult Education

Our adult education offerings change regularly as needs and ideas arise. Some of the current adult education programs are:

Fridays – a topical, faith and spirituality discussion group. Fridays meet one Friday a month for a light meal and facilitated conversation.

Common Ground – a theological discussion group which meets weekly for terms of generally 6 to 8 weeks.
