Worship & Music
At the Congregational Church of Naugatuck, we seek to provide dynamic, inspiring worship opportunities both on Sunday mornings and on a variety of other special occasions.
Sunday Mornings
At 8:30 a.m. we hold an informal worship service in the auditorium of our Parish House. Generally, the attire is casual and worship more interactive during this service.
At 10:15 a.m. our main worship service is held in our Sanctuary. For this service, one or more of our choirs offer musical selections and hymns are played on our beautiful 1970 Austin organ.
The Sacrament of Communion is celebrated regularly on the first Sunday of the month. The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated as need arises, generally on the third Sunday of the month.
Our Summer Worship Schedule (beginning the third Sunday of June and ending the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend) features one service held at 9:30 a.m.
Other Worship Opportunities
The Congregational Church of Naugatuck holds special services of worship both to celebrated ecclesiastical holidays and to minister to the needs of particular demographics. Some of these services include:
• Ash Wednesday Service (7:00 p.m.) • Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service (7:30 p.m.) • Good Friday Service (7:30 p.m.) • Advent Lessons and Carols • Mid-Advent Service of Centering • A Christmas Service for the Longest Night • Christmas Eve Family (5:30 p.m.) and Sacramental (11:00 p.m.) Services
Weddings and Funerals
Our pastors regularly officiate Services of Marriage or Services of Remembrance. While honoring our church’s traditions, each service is uniquely designed to minister to the needs of those who gather in worship for these occasions. Please contact the church office to schedule such service or to receive copy of our wedding guidelines.
Worship Through Music
At the Congregational Church of Naugatuck, we enrich our worship through a variety of musical expressions.
Our Chancel Choir (high school through adult) sings almost every week during the program year. They sing a variety of choral music from very traditional to contemporary.
The Naugatuck Ecumenical Children’s Choir is an ecumenical performance group of fifth through eighth graders. Because the Ecumenical Children’s Choir hold their practices at our church, we are blessed by their music during our services several times a year.
The Cherub Choir is comprised of our youngest singers, 4 year olds through 4th grade. The Cherub Choir usually sings in worship once a month.
The Djembé Drum Choir is a group of youth and a few adults who offer their talents in African drumming occasionally during our services.
The Carillon Choir is a handbell choir for Junior High and High School aged youth and adults. Using our set of White Chapel handbells, they ring joyous selections of sacred music for us several times a year.
